About Catherine Considine
I am a self-taught artist, Irish, and living in London, England. My paintings have evolved from small still life chromatic works, through landscapes and my favourite idiom of all, the portrait.
I didn't always paint - my chosen path for many years was that of sound recording engineer, an art form that manipulates sound in a way strangely similar to how a painter manipulates the visual world. It's good to go from one to the other.
The Still Life work developed from the initial purpose of studying colour, to an love of creating endless abstractions and ideas out of a natural thing. In Landscapes, I like to add the dimension of atmosphere to the painting. It's my window on another world. Landscapes expanded that window, and always in relation to how people see these things. The fruit on the kitchen table, or the favourite place in the world you visit.
